FieldEdge users are able to provide their customers a way to pay their agreement invoices and work order invoices through a secure online portal accessed through an emailed link.
As a FieldEdge user, providing your customers an online method of payment provides a convenient and secure way of paying an Invoice, thus increasing the number of invoices paid in a timely manner. Additionally, as a consumer, being able to pay online increases the probability of paying an invoice on time, as well as provide a sense of security when paying large dollar amounts.
In order to use this feature, the following conditions must be met.
- Must be set up with FieldEdge Payments (Clearent) as your payment processor.
- For more information on getting started with FieldEdge Payments, click here.
- Must have an additional Clearent Hpp Public Key and API key, different from what was used to set up FieldEdge Payments.
- To obtain your additional Clearent Hpp Public Key and API key, please reach out to fieldedgepayments@clearent.com.
Note: Microsoft has discontinued Internet Explorer and stopped supporting new web standards for it, opening the door for more cybersecurity threats than other browsers. Because of this increased risk, the decision was made that FieldEdge, and Online Consumer Payments by extension will not support Internet Explorer. If a consumer opens their invoice link using Internet Explorer, they will be instructed to use a different browser.
How To:
The following provides guidance on enabling Customer Online Payments (Pay Now).

This step is required so that emailed invoices show the Pay Now button.

- From the Insert Codes, drag [web_invoice_link] and/or [pay_invoice_link] to the email body.
- Note: The [web_invoice_link] will go into viewing the invoice, where the [pay_invoice_link] will go directly into paying the invoice.
- When finished, click Save.
3. (Optional) Configure Web Link Expiration to desired number of days in Global Settings.
The following is a optional and not required in order to use Online Consumer Payments. This setting may be useful in cases a consumer is past their term limits and you want to have a conversation before payment is accepted.
- In FieldEdge, go to Settings and select Global Settings in the Company section.
- In Global Settings, navigate down to Expire Invoice and Quote Web Links after [] Days, in the Push Notifications.
- Place a checkmark in the box to enable this feature. Once enabled, the default number of days will be set to 30. You may change this value if you wish.
The emailed invoice will expire after the indicated number of days. If expired, you may email the customer another copy to reset the expiration timer.
- When finished, click the Save button.
This feature was originally added as part of the March 15, 2019 release.
Comments
Is there a way to change the link verbiage? I would like it to say "PAY INVOICE ONLINE" instead of "view your invoice".
Hey Andrea!
Unfortunately, we're currently unable to change the verbiage of the 'web_invoice_link.'
